  • Getting Started with Drupal
  • Drupal Event Platform
  • Drupal Event Database

Getting Started With Drupal

This initiative aims to grow the Drupal Community by providing consistent, welcoming, inclusive content for Event Organizers to introduce newcomers to Drupal at their events.

Getting Started With Drupal Goals for 2021 were

  • Build a light curriculum (including pitch deck and potential programming) for Trainers and Ambassadors to use.
  • Set up a network of 5 "Trainers" willing to initially deliver the above curriculum.
  • Connecting "Trainers" to 5-10 other "Ambassadors" to deliver curriculum and give support at local events.
  • Pilot the curriculum at 1-3 events during the summer and officially launch at the end of the third quarter.
  • Identify individuals who may be a good fit for the Drupal Scholarship Program.
  • Begin to identify strategies to broaden the attendee base of local events.

Drupal Event Platform

The event website is one of the most important and laborious tasks for producing a quality Drupal event. For some events, the website is the main application that helps organize and build the entire experience, from collecting session submissions to assigning presentations to the schedule.

The Drupal Event Platform (DEP) committee within the Drupal Event Organizers Working Group (EOWG) is looking to reduce the time and resources it takes to create an event website site by building a flexible and customizable website starter kit for event organizers.

Goals of Drupal Event Platform Strategy

  • Focus the website creation efforts of event organizers on a single open-source platform to reduce duplication of efforts
  • Create an MVP (minimal viable product) that can meet the needs of at least 80% of Drupal events globally
  • Reach and maintain adoption by at least 40% of all Drupal events globally
  • Model for Drupal best practices including accessibility, usability, inclusive design, documentation, security, performance, and internationalization
  • Provide an extensible, modular platform that allows event organizers to choose to use default functionality or build custom components

Drupal Events Database

To make Drupal event information easier to find for those within the Drupal community and for those interested in the Drupal community.

Many users of Drupal and those that are new to or evaluating Drupal, have no idea where to go to find information about Drupal events. The overall goal of this group is to help centralize, maintain, and distribute this information to all looking for it.

Goals of Drupal Events Database for 2021

  • Expand the work already done at drupal.org/community/events to easily allow event organizers to enter information about upcoming events and also to enter event vital information (stats) about the events after they have happened
  • Propose changes to the drupal.org homepage to highlight, provide information on, and direct site visitors to the events.drupal.org website
  • Help to repurpose events.drupal.org to be the central location for all Drupal events by providing user stories, wireframes, and content.
  • Propose a layout and content for the community/events page on drupal.org to provide general information about Drupal events and to direct folks to the events.drupal.org website to find events.
  • Communicate the information about the new events.drupal.org site to the Drupal community and to those outside of the Drupal community.

We wish the new Drupal Event Organizers Working Group (EOWG) the very best in the new term as they serve the Drupal community at large.

Note: The vision of this web portal is to help promote news and stories around the Drupal community and promote and celebrate the people and organizations in the community. We strive to create and distribute our content based on these content policy. If you see any omission/variation on this please let us know in the comments below and we will try to address the issue as best we can.
