Flagler College Upgrades Website with Drupal 10 for Improved Usability and Engagement
Flagler College, a private liberal arts institution in Florida, partnered with Kanopi Studios to migrate its website from the proprietary CMS Terminal Four to Drupal 10 on the Pantheon platform, aiming to improve usability, content management, and scalability. Research conducted through user testing, stakeholder surveys, and heat mapping revealed navigation challenges and high bounce rates on key pages, particularly those related to academic programs. To address these issues, Kanopi implemented a student-focused content strategy featuring "scrolly-telling" techniques, improved navigation, and an updated visual design.
The redesign prioritized accessibility, mobile responsiveness, and search optimization, resulting in a 43.5% increase in pageviews year-over-year. The transition also empowered Flagler’s marketing team with greater content control and flexibility, while Kanopi provided training to ensure long-term website management. The project aimed to enhance the college's digital presence as it seeks to attract prospective students in a shifting higher education landscape.
