Maureen McElaney, a Senior Manager of OSS DevRel in IBM, maintains a publicly compiled list of tech conferences offering childcare. The move can be seen as a significant step toward inclusivity and women’s friendliness in a predominantly men’s world.

The list is divided into two parts. The former part includes current or upcoming conferences that offer child care. The latter part is a subsidiary list of conferences that previously offered child care.

There are a lot of conferences that offered childcare before 2020 but either went remote since or just have not announced their childcare plans. They are worth noting here in case they do come back in person and/or announce their childcare intentions,”

the intro to the subsidiary part states.

Most of the conferences on either list are of various free and open source initiatives.

There are 21 commits since the master branch was uploaded with a CC0 1.0 Universal Licence to GitHub on 2020 January 15. The last commit was five days ago. A total of 7 contributors, including herself, have contributed to the publicly held list.

Maureen McEleney’s GitHub profile says that she is the organiser of ‘Women in Machine Learning & Data Science’ (WiMLDS) and is on the board of Vermont Technology Alliance.

Special thanks to all the people who contributed to this by responding to me on twitter. Contribute or make improvements if you feel so inclined,”

Ms McElaney jots in the about section.

Thanks to @drupalchix, we were able to find this list.

Sadly none of the DrupalCons is on the list. So fellow Drupalists, if anyone of you knows of any Drupal Conference that provides childcare, do contribute to the list and send a merge request.

The list can be accessed from GitHub:
