JOB DESCRIPTION

• Develop and customize Drupal 10 themes using Twig, HTML5, CSS3 (SASS/LESS), and JavaScript (ES6+).
• Implement responsive design practices to ensure consistency across devices and screen sizes.
• Ensure strict compliance with WCAG 2.1 accessibility standards, multilingualism and organizational branding guidelines.
• Build and enhance front-end components using Drupal’s Layout Builder, blocks, and view modes.
• Integrate front-end components with structured content types and fields created by back-end developers.
• Optimize front-end performance (e.g., lazy loading, asset bundling, caching strategies).
• Work collaboratively in an Agile team environment, participating in sprint planning, stand-ups, and reviews.
• Participate and support business analysts in user requirements gathering, user review sessions and user acceptance testing.
• Maintain clean, documented, and reusable code following Drupal best practices.
• Assist in user testing, feedback implementation, and front-end debugging.
• Perform other duties as may be reasonably required and in line with the incumbent’s scope of services above.

Deliverables:

• Development of responsive and accessible Drupal themes using Twig and modern front-end technologies. Implementation of component-based design aligned with organizational branding.
• Creation of reusable front-end components that meet WCAG 2.1 standards. Remediation of accessibility issues identified through automated or manual audits.
• Delivery of optimized HTML/CSS/JS that supports fast page loads and mobile performance. Implementation of lazy loading, asset minimization, and performance monitoring practices.
• Seamless integration of front-end components with Drupal entities, fields, and views provided by back-end developers.
• Verified consistency and quality across browsers and screen sizes, with documented results.
• Full documentation of theming structure, components, and usage instructions for future maintenance. Contribution to shared design systems or style guides if applicable.
• Recommendations for front-end enhancements, including the adoption of modern UI frameworks and preparing for the transition to Drupal 11. A high-level roadmap outlining opportunities for improving accessibility, performance, and maintainability of the UI.

Experience:


• A minimum of five years of experience in design, development, implementation, training or maintenance for Drupal 9/10 web sites is required.
• Demonstrated expertise in Twig templating, Drupal theming system, and custom theme development.
• Strong proficiency in CSS (including preprocessors like SASS/SCSS), modern JavaScript, and responsive design.
• Experience with accessibility audits and remediating WCAG compliance issues.
• Familiarity with component-based design, Pattern Lab, or Storybook is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of PHP and Drupal module integration is desirable.
• Experience working in multilingual and international web environments is an advantage.
• Prior experience with multilingual and international web platforms is desirable.
• Fluency in English is required
