The University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) Information Technology Services organization is seeking an Associate Web Developer with an exceptional commitment to service excellence to join our Web Services team. As the Associate Web Developer, you will be an integral member of the Web Services team, collaborating with diverse and talented team members to deliver world-class experience for our campus community.

The Associate Web Developer is responsible for providing web development services to our UCLA campus community to create and maintain digital presence for campus customers, departments and programs or services. Collaborating closely with our Lead Web Developer, the person in this position will assist with applying standardized design, layout and themes in the development of informative, engaging and impactful websites for our customers. Responsibilities include assisting in the design of custom websites functions, utilizing modern approaches to the development of websites using web-based development frameworks and tools, ensuring compliance with ADA (WCAG) guidelines for accessibility within platforms such as Drupal, WordPress, or others, based upon customer needs. The Associate Web Developer will also participate in maintaining hosted websites, conducts thorough testing to ensure quality of deliverables, and applies updates to platforms to ensure they are secure. The position will also be an active participant in our Agile, DevOps practices and techniques for continuous deployment and automation. The position may also have responsibilities for providing after-hours support, as needed or assigned.

Two or more years of web or application development experience using modern technologies such as PHP, CSS, and/or JavaScript or similar.

Knowledge and experience with developing websites using Drupal, WordPress or other common content management system.

Knowledge of the development life-cycle and ability to effectively design, develop, test, deploy and maintain websites using structured approaches.

Possess the verbal and written communication skills to work effectively with technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization; ability to use standard English grammar and punctuation.

Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Engineering, or Computer Science and two years of experience OR equivalent relevant professional experience and education.

Experience developing self-contained web components using frameworks such as Lit 2, Svelte and Next.js, with understanding of custom elements and Shadow DOM.

Experience with local development environments like Docker, Docksal, Lando, and/or DDEV.

Experience developing with front-end style guides like Fractal, Pattern Lab, and Storybook.

Working knowledge of cloud-based CMS hosting platforms such as Pantheon, Acquia, Platform.sh, and/or AWS.
