Job Description:

The University at Albany's Office of Communications and Marketing (OCM) is seeking a Drupal Web Developer to be part of the Marketing Services team. This position will build, maintain, and optimize the university's CMS (Drupal) and associated tools for use by the campus community. The dev/ops position serves as a system architect, working independently to understand, propose and build software solutions, including Drupal modules and themes that balance users' needs, the university needs, and CMS best practices. This position will help serve as liaison between Information Technology Services (ITS) and the University Office of Communications and Marketing.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Mange Drupal security patches and lead migration to new versions of the CMS software
  • Independently develop Drupal modules and templates
  • Regularly monitor website performance and analytics and propose changes to optimize technological performance to leadership
  • Integrate and expose enterprise data via APIs and other data feeds
  • Coordinate between team building sites and IT Services to ensure successful site launches, identify and communicate new system requirements to ITS (PHP versions, etc.)
  • Document systems and procedures surrounding the CMS 

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology or related field from a college or university accredited by a U.S. Department of Education or internationally recognized organization. 
  • 3-5 years developing for an enterprise CMSExperience in:
    • Drupal Administration, template development
    • Git, Composer, Continuous Integration methodologies
    • HTML5/CSS3
    • Responsive Web Design
    • JavaScript, JQuery
    • PHP & Twig
    • WCAG / Accessibility
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Clear understanding of the online space
  • Self-starter; ability to work independently and consistently meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at one time, including both short and long-term efforts
