Paris, November 26, 2024: Platform.sh, a leading cloud application platform, announced today the appointment of Nigel Kersten as Chief Product Officer (CPO). Kersten, an internationally recognized expert in DevOps and platform engineering, will oversee product strategy and execution across the company's portfolio, with a particular focus on Upsun, Platform.sh's latest Platform as a Service (PaaS) offering.

Kersten's appointment is part of Platform.sh's strategy to strengthen its position in the cloud application market and optimize Upsun, a service that simplifies cloud development. Upsun enables developers to transform code into production-ready cloud applications with seamless collaboration throughout the software delivery lifecycle.

"I am delighted to be joining Platform.sh at such a pivotal time to help grow our already industry-leading multi-cloud and multi-stack capabilities into the leading cloud application platform,"

said Kersten.

"With initiatives like Upsun, we aim to transform the way businesses develop and deploy applications of all kinds, offering them both flexibility and control."

An influential figure in the DevOps community, Kersten co-founded the State of DevOps Report, introducing DORA metrics that have elevated software delivery practices across the industry. Serving as the primary co-author for 11 years, he pioneered best practices for modernizing complex IT environments through DevOps and platform engineering.

Before joining Platform.sh, Kersten built an industry-leading open-source infrastructure-as-code platform within Google's Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) organization. He later joined Puppet, an open-source DevOps pioneer, as an early employee and Head of Product. Over 12 years at Puppet, he held various technical leadership roles-including CTO and VP of Engineering and drove product strategy and customer relationships until the company's successful acquisition.

"We're thrilled to welcome Nigel to our leadership team as Chief Product Officer,"

said Frédéric Plais, CEO and co-founder of Platform.sh.

"With his deep industry expertise and passion for innovation, Nigel is uniquely positioned to drive our product vision forward and help us deliver greater value to our customers. His commitment to excellence and user-centric design aligns perfectly with our goals, and we're excited for the impact he will make."
