File Upload Secure Validator 2.2.1 Improves CI Stability and Prepares for Drupal 12

Version 2.2.1 of the File Upload Secure Validator module shifts the project to Drupal 11-only support and prepares it for Drupal 12, according to a post by Stefanos Petrakis published by Tag1 Consulting. The module is used on more than 10,000 reported sites and validates uploaded files in Drupal applications.

The release focuses on resolving accumulated maintenance issues rather than introducing new functionality. Petrakis reports that multiple GitLab CI failures have been fixed, along with deprecation warnings introduced in Drupal 11.3 and later. Unit test failures, including issues involving static methods and TranslatableMarkup, have also been addressed.

The update strengthens automated testing and code quality checks. The test suite now includes 23 tests with 164 assertions, and the project reports zero errors across PHPCS, CSpell, and PHPStan. All continuous integration checks are described as passing following the update.

The overhaul was planned and executed with the assistance of AI tools, which were used to structure tasks and guide implementation. This support contributed to completing work that had been delayed, particularly around expanding test coverage and improving code quality.

No new features or configuration changes are introduced in version 2.2.1. The release centres on maintainability and compatibility, reflecting the ongoing effort required to keep widely used contributed modules aligned with evolving Drupal core standards.
