Drupal Training Publishes Drupal 11 and 12 Curriculum Outline

Drupal Training published a curriculum outline on LinkedIn on 3 August 2026 covering Drupal 11 development and preparation for Drupal 12. The programme includes Single-Directory Components, Recipes, Navigation, Workspaces, the Access Policy API, Symfony 8, PHPUnit 12, and ESLint 9. The outline is aimed at developers and architects preparing for current Drupal development practices and the next major release.

Several subjects build on features already available in Drupal core. Single-Directory Components became stable and part of the core render system in Drupal 10.3, which also introduced the Recipes APIs experimentally and made Workspaces stable. Navigation became stable in Drupal 11.3 and is enabled in the Standard administrative interface in Drupal 11.4, while the existing Toolbar remains available but is scheduled for removal in Drupal 12. Drupal 11.4 also includes Default Admin, an experimental administrative theme based on Gin that is intended to replace Claro once it becomes stable.

The Drupal 12 portion covers dependency, testing, and tooling changes planned for the next major release. The current Drupal core release schedule places Drupal 12.0.0 in the week of 7 December 2026, with PHP 8.5 as the minimum required version, and Drupal core's development branch is using Symfony 8. PHPUnit 12 and ESLint 9 are also among the development changes being tracked for Drupal 12, alongside the removal of deprecated functionality.
