Symfony Reprise 1.0.0 Establishes Stable API for Vite and Rsbuild Integration
Release 1.0.0 of Symfony Reprise became available on 26 August 2026, removing its experimental status and placing its public API under semantic versioning and Symfony's backward compatibility promise. Symfony contributor Hugo Alliaume describes Reprise as an integration layer rather than a build tool, with Vite or Rsbuild handling bundling, hashing, source maps, development servers, and related frontend work. Reprise provides the Symfony-specific entrypoints.json and manifest.json files and the Twig tags that render them, covering integration previously handled through Webpack Encore.
The 1.0 milestone follows several releases focused on stabilisation rather than expanding the public API. Version 0.8.0, released on 19 August 2026, added an option for copied assets to retain stable file paths while placing their content hash in the manifest URL and corrected differences between Vite and Rsbuild manifest keys. Work leading to 1.0 also expanded end-to-end testing, addressed Subresource Integrity handling, and extended the Webpack Encore migration documentation.
The release has an indirect connection to Drupal rather than changing Drupal itself. Drupal uses Symfony components, but Reprise is designed as an integration layer for Symfony applications using Vite or Rsbuild and is not presented as part of Drupal's frontend asset system. Readers interested in the upstream tooling can review the Symfony Reprise 1.0.0 announcement, while the 0.8.0 release post documents the copied-asset and manifest changes that preceded the stable release.
