JOB DESCRIPTION

The Opportunity:

This is a high-profile opportunity for a dynamic sales or fundraising professional with an entrepreneurial mindset and the ability to lead the funding efforts of an international, technology-based non-profit organization. The Chief Revenue Officer will lead the planning, implementation, and execution of a comprehensive fundraising program with a proven track record of multimillion-dollar annual fundraising targets, including event sponsorship, corporate partnership, and corporate and individual giving. They will act as part of the senior leadership team, partnering with the CEO on a strategy to bring funding to the next level while managing a team of fundraising staff.  This role will help the organization position Drupal as an open web champion by seeking and developing new funding and establishing the proper systems to ensure continued growth.  The right candidate should be comfortable rolling up their sleeves while pursuing large-scale visionary funding from grants to corporate partners while overseeing a team responsible for a high volume of accounts.

Elements of the Role:

Development and Strategy

  • Drive and oversee all fundraising, philanthropic revenue generation, and related stewardship, communication, and event activity and ensure that the Drupal Association achieves its revenue goals
  • Partner with the leadership team and Board of Directors to refine the fundraising strategy for the organization
  • Collaborate with the board and leadership team to enhance relationships and create greater fundraising and outreach possibilities
  • Create an annual fund development plan
  • Work closely with the Leadership Team, staff, and Board Members to develop new relationships with funders and deepen existing ones
  • Cultivate and manage relationships with high-level giving partners and donors
  • Partner with Chief Operating Officer to track revenue goals and progress
  • Build strategic partnerships with corporations, foundations, and community organizations

Management and Oversight

  • Manage, coach, and train the fundraising team
  • Develop and monitor relevant departmental budgets in collaboration with the CFO
  • Partner with the Operations Team to ensure communications and systems are optimized to meet development objectives

Candidate Qualities:

  • 3+ years experience in a Director level role or higher
  • Experience developing and managing budgets
  • Success leading, managing and inspiring high levels of productivity and collaboration amongst a diverse team 
  • Experience with program management, including the creation of goals and objectives
  • Experience developing and monitoring key performance indicators or similar goals from a numbers perspective
  • At least 3 years of experience directly managing employees
  • Proactive and highly motivated, able to work independently without frequent oversight
  • Demonstrated understanding of internet technologies and their impact on society
  • Ability to build strong cross-functional relationships across the team
  • Outstanding presentation and communication skills and experience as a compelling relationship builder and fundraiser
  • Excellent coalition-building skills with an ability to communicate effectively with a variety of internal and external stakeholders; a negotiator with sensitivity and appreciation for global, diverse viewpoints and various communication styles
  • Commitment to establishing a diverse, equitable, and inclusive work environment and to developing and retaining talent

  • Knowledge of Salesforce or similar CRM is strongly preferred
  • Experience with digital fundraising strategy strongly preferred
  • Experience with technology consortiums or trade groups a plus
  • Experience building partnerships with CMS end-user organizations or similar technologies a plus

Location and Travel:

  • Remote work: We are a distributed team
  • Requires some travel throughout the year for major events as well as donor meetings and staff retreats.

Position Type:
