GitHub Unveils New M1 macOS Runner and CodeQL 2.16.1 Updates
GitHub unveils a new M1 macOS runner, available for all plans and free for public repositories. This latest addition offers 3 vCPU, 7 GB RAM, and 14 GB of storage VM, delivering cutting-edge Mac hardware Actions. Users can leverage this runner by updating the "runs-on" key in the YAML workflow file. Additionally, GitHub announced the availability of CodeQL 2.16.1 for users of GitHub code scanning on github.com, featuring support for Swift 5.9.2, new queries for Swift and Java, improved tracking of flows from PageModel class to Razor Page file, expanded JavaScript and Go support, and updates to the file scanning process in the Code Scanning UI. These enhancements are due to be included in GHES 3.13, and users of GHES 3.12 or older can upgrade their CodeQL version to benefit from these updates.
