A post-event recap from the DrupalCon Vienna 2025 organizers highlights the event as a showcase of global participation, open source collaboration, and community momentum. Held from October 14–17 at the Austria Center Vienna, the event welcomed 935 registered participants from more than 40 countries, reinforcing Drupal’s international reach and diverse contributor base.
According to the Drupal Association’s report, 85% of attendees came from across Europe, with others traveling from the United States, Latin America, Africa, and Asia-Pacific. Top-represented countries included the United Kingdom (112), Germany (107), and Belgium (74). First-time attendees accounted for 28%, while 38% had attended four or more DrupalCons—underscoring a healthy mix of newcomers and seasoned contributors.
The event introduced a new “Drupal in a Day” training session, coordinated by Hilmar Kári Hallbjörnsson, which brought in 113 learners aged 18 to 52. This initiative marked a clear investment in onboarding and cross-generational skill-building.
DrupalCon Vienna’s success was made possible by 56 on-site volunteers and a wide range of sponsors across Diamond, Platinum, Gold, Silver, Module, and Media tiers. Attendees included technical users (37%), decision-makers (27%), and agency professionals, with 53% representing digital or development firms. The most represented industries were services (31%), government (16%), and education (11%).
The report framed the event as more than just a developer conference—it was a live demonstration of Drupal’s values: openness, shared growth, and global community. As Drupal heads into its next chapter, the Vienna gathering reaffirmed the power of collaboration and contribution in sustaining the open web.
