JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Learn and understand the architecture and operation of the existing Drupal-based CMS.
  • Take over the technical ownership of a system developed by an external development partner.
  • Develop and enhance custom Drupal modules.
  • Modify existing functionality, fix bugs, and refactor code.
  • Maintain and extend custom core and contributed patches using Composer Patches.
  • Identify technical debt and development risks.
  • Support Drupal and PHP version upgrades.
  • Develop and maintain integrations and APIs.
  • Create and maintain unit tests.
  • Participate in code reviews and merge request evaluations.
  • Use and modify GitLab CI/CD pipelines when required.
  • Investigate application issues in containerized and Kubernetes environments.
  • Create and maintain up-to-date technical documentation.
  • Collaborate closely with operations, QA/testing, and business teams. 

Requirements

  • Several years of hands-on Drupal development experience (Drupal 9/10/11).
  • Strong proficiency in PHP 8.x and object-oriented programming (OOP) principles.
  • Experience developing custom Drupal modules.
  • Solid understanding of Drupal's Service, Plugin, and Hook systems, as well as Event Dispatching and Configuration Management.
  • Proficiency with Composer and Drush.
  • Good knowledge of key Symfony components used by Drupal.
  • Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or MariaDB.
  • Experience with caching technologies (e.g., Redis), Solr-based search (Search API), and related Drupal configurations.
  • Experience with Drupal theme development using Twig, SCSS/Gulp, and frontend JavaScript.
  • Ability to independently understand, maintain, and extend large, complex codebases.
  • Strong Git skills.
  • Experience with code reviews and team-based branching strategies.
  • Experience working in Docker-based development or runtime environments.
  • Practical knowledge of Kubernetes and troubleshooting containerized applications.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD processes and hands-on experience with GitLab CI/CD pipelines.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Willingness to use modern AI-powered development tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, GitHub Copilot, Codex) on a daily basis, or proven experience using them for development, debugging, documentation, and problem-solving. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with the technical handover of systems developed by external vendors.
  • Experience developing large-scale, high-traffic, or multisite Drupal applications.
  • Knowledge of Varnish or other reverse proxy and HTTP caching technologies.
  • Deep understanding of Drupal's caching system and cache invalidation mechanisms.
  • Experience with permission and access management solutions (e.g., Group/Subgroup).
  • Experience with content migration using Drupal Migrate API.
  • Experience with REST APIs, JSON:API, or other system integrations.
  • Experience using PHP Unit, PHP Stan, PH Code Sniffer, or other code quality tools.
  • Knowledge of Helm Charts and Helmfile.
  • Experience with Redis, Solr, Elasticsearch, or similar technologies.
  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools such as Open Telemetry and Matomo.
