Software Foundation Fiji

Software Foundation (Fiji) is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the use and development of software in Fiji, with a strong emphasis on free open source software (FOSS). Established in September 2010 and registered as a non-profit in April 2012, the foundation focuses on several key areas:

- Enhancing computer literacy across Fiji.

- Raising awareness and providing training in information and communication technologies (ICT).

- Building a network of local and international experts in the software field.

- Encouraging collaboration and competition among Fijian software companies on a global scale.

- Offering training and support related to FOSS.

- Improving the education sector by integrating modern ICT knowledge into tertiary education.

The foundation's objectives include supporting the Ministry of Education with curriculum development, conducting specialized training and workshops, and providing computers to schools. It aims to establish an Information Technology Institute to offer free computer literacy classes and serve as its main office. Additionally, the foundation runs workshops for disabled individuals, sets up technical support teams across Fiji, provides scholarships for students, funds research in computer science and engineering, and organizes competitions for students in programming and research.
