DBC

DBC is a public company owned by Local Government Denmark and the Danish State. Its primary role is to develop and maintain the bibliographic and IT infrastructure for Danish libraries. DBC manages the registration of various materials, including books, music, audiovisual content, and articles in the National Bibliography. It also oversees DanBib, the union catalogue that includes the national bibliography and library holdings, as well as the infrastructure for interlibrary loans.

Additionally, DBC operates Bibliotek.dk, which provides citizens access to all Danish publications and library collections. Through these services, DBC supports libraries in their mission to promote education, enlightenment, and cultural activities. The company's IT development focuses on open-source solutions and service-oriented architecture, aligning with guidelines from The National IT and the Danish Agency for Digitisation for public institutions.
