UC Berkeley School of Information

The School of Information at UC Berkeley is a graduate school focused on research and education in the field of information. It aims to enhance access to information while ensuring its usability, reliability, and security. The school brings together experts from various disciplines, including information science, computer science, design, social sciences, management, law, and policy.

The School offers three professional master’s degrees: the Master of Information Management and Systems (MIMS), which prepares students for careers as information professionals through small classes and hands-on projects; the Master of Information and Data Science (MIDS), which trains data scientists in a flexible online format; and the Master of Information and Cybersecurity (MICS), which develops leaders in cybersecurity with both technical skills and contextual knowledge. Additionally, the school offers a Ph.D. program that prepares scholars to create solutions and influence policies related to information use and sharing.
