Thomas van Eldijk

I have been designing and building websites since 1999 and in 2001 I started my own agency on a houseboat in Amsterdam. Around the same time, the first open-source CMSs came into circulation, such as Mambo (the predecessor to Joomla).

Building and designing websites based on open source seemed the logical step. But this choice turned out to be a bit early and required a lot of persuasion. Certainly, the vision I had in which you got the most out of existing open-source technology and combined this with a strong and user-friendly design was not the easiest choice and caused a lot of trial and error.

The result, however, was that we were one of the first experts in the field of designing and building websites with open-source technology. This attracted a lot of attention and I decided to expand my team and settle in the center of the Netherlands, Utrecht.

We now mainly work with Drupal (one of the most powerful open-source systems) and we mainly create larger corporate, intranet, and community websites. Still with open source and still with the same vision as in 2001.

Even though I studied "multimedia design" at the Graphic Lyceum, I now leave the designing to other better designers in my team. This allows me to focus on overseeing the projects and advising and guiding our clients in setting up and improving their websites.
