Aaron Winborn Award 2023 Nominations Now Open

Drupal CWG has announced that the nominations for the Aaron Winborn Award 2023 are now open. This is a call to the members of the Drupal Community to show their appreciation towards a Drupal Community member or anyone who has made a big difference to any number of people within the community.

Nominations are open until Friday, March 25, 2022. A committee of Community Working Group members (Conflict Resolution Team) and past award winners will select a winner from the nominations.

The winner receives a scholarship and travel stipend to attend DrupalCon North America and recognition in a plenary session at the event.

The Aaron Winborn Award was created in honor of long-time Drupal contributor Aaron Winborn, whose battle with Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or ALS (also referred to as Lou Gehrig’s Disease), came to an end on March 24, 2015—based on a suggestion by Hans Riemenschneider, the Community Working Group, with the support of the Drupal Association, launched the Aaron Winborn Award.

The winner of the 2022 Aaron Winborn Award was Angie Byron. Last year’s award was announced on the first day at DrupalCon Portland 2022. Angie is a Principal Community Manager at MongoDB, Drupal Core Contributor, and a Product Manager. She began her work as a Google Summer of Code student in 2005 and fell in love with Drupal and the community immediately. Since then, she has dedicated her entire time to supporting open source.
