A UX Designer's Journey: Installing Drupal 10 in 2023
Installing Drupal 10 may sound like a hectic task, especially for newcomers, but István, a UX/UI designer with years of experience, took on the challenge and shared his journey in Brainsum. His experience sheds light on what it's like for a UX designer to navigate the Drupal 10 installation process in 2023.
István's journey began with a visit to drupal.org, where he easily found the "Try Drupal" and "Download" buttons. Following the recommendations, he opted for Composer to install Drupal. With confidence, he entered the world of terminal commands and successfully installed Drupal, albeit with a minor hiccup related to PHP versions.
After setting up his local server, István explored different installation options. He decided to download Drupal without Composer and, with MAMP as his local server, initiated the installation. Challenges arose, such as PHP OPcode caching issues and connecting to the database, but he persevered, resolved these hurdles, and successfully installed Drupal.
Throughout the process, István's feelings ranged from initial confidence to minor confusion, but in the end, he found the experience satisfying. His journey serves as a valuable insight into the Drupal 10 installation process and offers tips for newcomers.
István's venture also uncovered a quicker installation method for those looking to quickly try out Drupal and get a first impression, further simplifying the process for beginners. Overall, his experience demonstrates that, with a bit of guidance, installing Drupal 10 can be a manageable task, even for UX designers.
