DDEV Advisory Group Announces 2024 Strategic Objectives

DDEV 2024

During its annual review and planning session, the DDEV Advisory Group released its strategic objectives in 2024. According to Randy Fay, plans include enhancing community support through initiatives such as expanded contributor training and improved user support as the platform's user base has doubled.

The governance strategy of the DDEV Foundation is also set for an overhaul to strengthen financial oversight and raise the advisory group's authority. On the technological front, DDEV will focus on refining features such as the integration of the ddev-xhgui add-on into the core platform, and supporting Node.js back-ends, among other improvements.

Additionally, there is an intent to restructure the ddev-webserver to accommodate multiple images and make the web server components swappable, addressing community requests for more back-end support. The group is also considering the development of a more user-friendly interface, possibly reintroducing a GUI to attract a broader audience.
