Mark Conroy Announces Beta Release of LocalGov Live Preview Module

Mark Conroy has announced the beta release of the LocalGov Live Preview module, a new feature designed to enhance the editing experience for administrators of LocalGov Drupal (LGD) microsites. Developed with an emphasis on usability and modular design, this feature enables a more intuitive, live-preview editing workflow within the LocalGov CMS environment.

As part of a recent focus on improving the Editor Experience for LGD microsites, Mark reorganized the module’s architecture, moving microsite-specific elements to a sub-module. This shift allows for streamlined core functionality that can be used across different platforms, whether within LGD CMS or dedicated microsites. Key adjustments include a custom form mode for previews, which simplifies the editing interface by displaying only relevant fields in the off-canvas tray. Additional refinements ensure the “Edit Microsite Design” tab is visible only when necessary, enhancing user permissions and providing a fallback for non-JavaScript-enabled sessions.

The module update also comes with comprehensive documentation updates and an uninstall function to prevent conflicts for future re-installations. Conroy has invited users interested in testing the beta release to access it via Composer, using 'composer require localgovdrupal/localgov_live_preview:^1.0.0@beta'

In conjunction with this release, Mark noted that recent meetings and code contributions, including work on quality metrics and code merges, have further advanced the LocalGov platform’s capacity to support government microsites efficiently.
