Drupal AI Summit Paris 2026 to Feature Medical Research Reviews and AI Governance
Sessions at the Drupal AI Summit Paris 2026 will examine how organisations are integrating artificial intelligence into Drupal systems while retaining human oversight of sensitive workflows and published content. The summit takes place on 1 December 2026 at CNIT Forest in Paris, opening the Future of Software Technologies (FOST) conference. Liz Krukosky, founder and CEO of Cool Fire Inc., outlined the programme in a Drupal AI Initiative blog post published on 29 October 2026.
The programme includes implementations involving medical research applications, controlled website updates and enterprise information systems. A central example comes from the Clinical Practice Research Datalink (CPRD), which provides anonymised clinical data to researchers. Vijay Mani, solution architect at Reading Room, will explain how a standalone AI Reviewer Service was integrated with CPRD's Drupal-based Research Application Portal. According to the session description, the implementation connects Drupal to an external Node.js AI service through APIs, allowing research applications to be checked against established data-use requirements.
The CPRD presentation will examine how complex application data, including dataset requests, study licences and research protocols, is made available to the AI service. The system is designed to assist an existing multi-stage review process involving administrative staff, information governance specialists and other reviewers. Human reviewers retain responsibility for decisions, while the AI performs preliminary checks against defined rules.
Another technical session will examine the use of Drupal Workspaces to manage AI-generated website changes. Fabian Franz from Tag1 will demonstrate how an AI agent can modify content across a separate workspace without immediately affecting the published site. The proposed workflow allows editors to inspect, revise, or discard changes before deciding whether to publish them. The session focuses on separating automated content modification from final publication authority.
The summit will also feature enterprise applications beyond conventional content management. Sofiia Ivanochko from Shell and Kristof Van Tomme from Pronovix will discuss AI capabilities within Shell's developer portal. Their presentation will cover API discovery, the creation of onboarding documentation, and tools intended to help nontechnical teams understand available APIs.
The European Personnel Selection Office (EPSO) will provide another example of AI operating within established institutional systems. Dominique De Cooman, founder and CEO of Dropsolid AI, will explain how Drupal’s structured content and API-first architecture support EPSO’s multilingual answer engine. The system uses Drupal-based content and source citations to support information access across 24 official European Union languages. TheDropTimes has previously reported on this implementation, including its retrieval architecture and governance requirements. The Paris presentation will revisit the system in the context of sovereign AI infrastructure.
Other sessions will examine editorial consistency, AI search visibility and data control. Bruno Bruno from 1xINTERNET will demonstrate AI-assisted content checks against organisational standards, while Martin Anderson-Clutz of Acquia will examine how AI is changing website discovery, personalisation and digital marketing. Christoph Breidert will discuss Answer Engine Optimization and the assessment of content for AI search. Dan Lemon from amazee.io will present reported production uses involving content classification, accessible rewriting and search supported by private AI infrastructure. Jamie Abrahams of FreelyGive will examine how subscriptions, vendor lock-in concerns and national AI sovereignty are influencing open-source AI adoption. Wolfgang Ziegler of drunomics will address collaboration between people and AI agents, with final approval remaining with people. Other presentations will cover knowledge management and related governance questions.
The Drupal AI Summit Paris programme forms part of FOST, scheduled for 1–3 December 2026 at CNIT Forest. The wider conference will bring together more than 25 technology events and over 300 sessions. Further information, including the detailed schedule and registration options, is available through the official event page.
