Aten Design Group Develops Interactive Map for Tampa International Airport
Aten Design Group has launched an interactive map for Tampa International Airport's redesigned website, integrating React with Drupal 10 to improve navigation and streamline content management. The map provides real-time location search, food ordering, and dynamic user interactions, optimizing the traveler's digital experience.
Built using the React Leaflet library, the application replaces traditional geographical visuals with custom SVG overlays. The map dynamically fetches data from Drupal, allowing airport staff to update locations, icons, and categories without developer intervention. A list view enhances accessibility, enabling users to browse locations, view essential details, and seamlessly transition between text-based search results and the visual map.
"Our goal was to create a digital experience as seamless as the airport itself,"
said Jennifer Dust, Senior Manager of DevOps at Aten Design Group.
"By leveraging React's performance and Drupal's content management capabilities, we ensured a scalable and maintainable solution for the airport's team."
The team prioritized mobile optimization by implementing code splitting and tree shaking, reducing load times and enhancing responsiveness. The React-based application preloads map layers using memoization, ensuring a swift experience when switching between different areas.
The interactive map aligns with Tampa International Airport's commitment to customer satisfaction. With an intuitive interface and real-time updates, the new system improves wayfinding, making it easier for travelers to locate points of interest and services.
