New Relic Sets 15 October End Date for Drupal 7 and 9 Monitoring

Teams operating Drupal 7 or Drupal 9 face a monitoring cutoff after New Relic, an observability software company, announced that support for both versions in its PHP agent will end on 15 October 2026. The company published the deadline in a 9 July 2026 end-of-life notice.

After support ends, New Relic says affected installations will no longer receive Drupal-specific insights. It also warns that the PHP agent may fail to report those insights for sites not upgraded to Drupal 10 or newer, or may trigger incorrect alert conditions based on stale or missing metrics. The notice directs customers to upgrade Drupal before installing the latest PHP agent.

New Relic's PHP agent release notes use an earlier date. The v12.6.0.34 release notes, published on 31 March 2026, the v12.7.0.36 release notes, published on 12 May 2026, and the v12.8.0.37 release notes, published on 29 June 2026, each say Drupal 7 and Drupal 9 support will be discontinued in all PHP agent versions after 30 September 2026. The EOL notice does not explain the difference between that wording and its 15 October effective date.

Drupal 7 reached end of life on 5 January 2025, and Drupal 9 reached end of life on 1 November 2023. Drupal.org says Drupal 7 no longer receives community support or releases on Drupal.org, while Drupal 9 receives no further releases. For teams still operating these versions, New Relic's cutoff adds monitoring and alerting changes to migration and incident-response planning.
