Layout Builder Audit Adds Granular Change Tracking to Drupal

Editors using Drupal's core Layout Builder now have a contributed module that records block-level layout changes. Pravesh Poonia created Layout Builder Audit, which was added to Drupal.org on 7 August 2026 and records block creation, modification, movement, and deletion through a Layout Audit tab on individual nodes. OpenSense Labs is listed by Drupal.org as the project's supporting organisation.

The module supplements Drupal's node revision history with Layout Builder-specific detail. Its project page describes field-level before-and-after comparisons, detection of saves where no visible field value changed, and metadata including the user, timestamp, IP address, block UUID, plugin ID, and region transitions. Administrators can also filter the timeline by event type and page through larger audit histories.

Layout Builder Audit requires Drupal 10 or later with core Layout Builder enabled. Although Poonia's LinkedIn announcement describes the release as version 1.0.0, Drupal.org currently lists only the 1.0.x-dev development version, updated on 7 August 2026, and states that the project is not covered by Drupal's security advisory policy. Teams considering the module for production editorial workflows therefore need to account for its current development and security-coverage status.
