Sally Young (justafish)

Sally Young has been an advocate for open source for a long time, with her initial exposure being her experimentation of bulletin boards with Perl and PHP. She contributed the original smiley pack for phpBB 1.0.

She earned her Master's Degree in Computer Science from the University of London, where she conducted research and developed applications utilizing genetic algorithms for the lexical categorization of words. This extensive academic experience enabled her to develop knowledge in the management of large data sets and time-effective approaches to computing tasks. During this period, Sally was part of the BAFTA-winning SodaRace project, as well as providing support to students in Java, Assembly, and Prolog courses. Additionally, she received a grant from the Nuffield Foundation to develop, test, and document verification systems in the fields of category theory and signal flow graph properties.
