Analysis of the use of Drupal and other systems on official city websites
Open source software is an excellent choice for public institutions. It ensures openness and transparency and prevents the public sector from becoming too attached to closed solutions.
Recently I have been investigating the use of CMS systems on official city websites. This is the proverbial litmus test for the popularity of Drupal and other CMSs. In most countries, cities are obliged to have their own websites, serving both residents, investors and tourists.
The conclusions from the study are very ambiguous. They depend largely on the region of the world. The influence of European institutions on cities in the EU is visible, and the dominance of ASP.NET technology in North America is also clear. It seems that Drupal, along with other open source initiatives, still needs a lot of promotion.
