Drupal in the Public Sector – Experiences from the UK and the Netherlands
This talk provides a practical introduction to how Drupal is used as a platform for digital citizen services in European municipalities and public organisations. We hear from two leading communities:

Greg Harvey, an agency director heavily involved with LocalGov Drupal, presents a community of developers, content designers and digital leaders from councils in the UK and Ireland who collaborate to develop open source solutions for the public sector. LocalGov Drupal is free, easy to implement and built by councils for councils – and is today in use by over 50 councils across the United Kingdom.

Esmeralda Tijhoff and rikkert Steenbergen from DICTU (Dienst ICT Uitvoering) represent one of the largest IT service providers in the Dutch public sector, delivering Drupal websites for a wide range of government organisations. DICTU is the largest Drupal agency in the Netherlands and has developed The Government Drupal Platform (Generieke Basis Website) – a distribution with standard configurations tailored to the requirements of government projects.

The session concludes with questions and discussion, with a particular focus on what Norwegian municipalities can learn from these experiences.
