JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Drupal 10/11 setup and architecture, content modeling (Paragraphs, Layout Builder)
  • Custom module development that is clean, well-documented, and maintainable
  • Search API and Solr implementation, including PDF indexing and auto-complete functionality
  • REST API integrations (third-party systems, appointment booking systems, AI interfaces)
  • Webforms with complex calculation logic and CMS-managed parameters
  • Performance optimization, security (OWASP), CI/CD, Composer, and Git 

Front-End

  • Drupal theming using Twig and component-based architecture
  • Converting designs into accessible and high-performance Drupal templates (WCAG 2.1 AA)
  • Integration of design systems and pattern libraries  
  • JavaScript, CSS/SASS, and front-end performance optimization
  • Close collaboration with back-end developers and UX/design teams 

Full-Stack

  • Combination of the above responsibilities based on project needs
  • Ideal for candidates who can bridge front-end and back-end development and possess broad technical expertise 

All Tracks

  • Participation in agile sprint teams
  • Code reviews and technical documentation according to agency standards
  • Compliance with WCAG 2.1 AA, GDPR, Swiss DSG/nDSG, and OWASP guidelines where applicable 

Qualifications

Mandatory (All Tracks)

  • Native-level German language skills
  • Minimum 5 years of Drupal experience in your chosen track (Back-End, Front-End, or Full-Stack) within a digital agency or a comparable environment
  • Drupal 10/11 as an active core competency, not just legacy experience
  • Demonstrable qualifications through at least one of the following:
    • Relevant Acquia certification (Back-End Specialist, Front-End Specialist, or Certified Developer), or
    • An active Drupal.org profile with verifiable contributions to Drupal 10/11 core or modules, or
    • A public code portfolio (GitHub/GitLab) containing Drupal examples from the last two years
  • Project experience within the public sector or institutional organizations 

Technical Requirements – Back-End

  • PHP 8.3+, object-oriented development, dependency injection, Drupal service layer
  • Search API, Solr, REST APIs, and third-party integrations
  • Webform development with complex calculations
  • Custom module development 

Technical Requirements – Front-End

  • Twig and Drupal theme architecture
  • Component-based development
  • JavaScript, CSS/SASS
  • Performance optimization and accessibility (WCAG 2.1 AA)
  • Understanding of Drupal's render system and theme hook system 

Technical Requirements – Full-Stack

  • Strong knowledge of both the Back-End and Front-End areas listed above
  • Ability to switch between front-end and back-end work depending on project phase 

Personal Qualities

  • Reliability is non-negotiable: deadlines are met, and issues are communicated proactively
  • Clean, well-documented code that others can easily maintain
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment
  • Interest in a long-term partnership rather than one-off engagements 

Nice to Have

  • Understanding of Swiss German
  • Experience integrating AI solutions into Drupal projects
  • Experience in healthcare, social insurance, or public-sector institutions
  • Active involvement in the Drupal community (DrupalCon, local meetups, issue queue contributions)
