JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Design and deliver enterprise-grade Drupal solutions supporting the City of Greater Geelong’s web platforms.
  • Lead custom Drupal development, theming, and reusable component creation.
  • Contribute to and influence the Drupal platform roadmap in alignment with Council priorities and digital strategies.
  • Provide technical leadership in solution design, including headless and decoupled Drupal architectures.
  • Develop and manage integrations with enterprise systems such as CRM, ERP, and service management platforms.
  • Ensure solutions meet standards for accessibility (WCAG 2.1 AA), security, performance, privacy, and regulatory compliance.
  • Promote and implement modern Drupal development practices, including:
    • CI/CD pipelines
    • Automated testing
    • Coding standards
    • Quality assurance
    • Governance frameworks
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and oversee external vendors to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Support platform optimization, knowledge sharing, and long-term sustainability of digital services. 

Required Qualifications

  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Significant experience in a similar role within a comparable organization. 

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Strong expertise in Drupal 10/11 development.
  • Experience with:
    • Custom module development
    • Theme development
    • Configuration management
    • Site building
  • Proven experience integrating Drupal with enterprise systems using RESTful APIs.
  • Experience working with:
    • CRM systems
    • ERP platforms
    • Service management platforms
  • Strong knowledge of Agile development methodologies.
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • CI/CD pipelines
    • Automated testing
    • Version control systems (Git, MS DevOps)
  • Deep understanding of:
    • Web security
    • Performance optimization
    • Accessibility (WCAG 2.1 AA)
    • Privacy and compliance requirements
  • Experience designing and implementing headless or decoupled Drupal architectures.
  • Experience integrating Drupal with modern frontend frameworks such as:
    • React
    • Next.js 

Desirable Skills

  • Additional experience with headless/decoupled Drupal solutions.
  • Knowledge of:
    • Content strategy
    • UX/UI principles
    • Digital service design practices 

Additional Requirements

  • Successful completion of a National Police Check.
  • Successful completion of a Working with Children Check.
  • Commitment to child safety policies, procedures, and mandatory training.
