JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Design and build Drupal 10 sites: content types, fields, views, custom entities, custom modules, and theming.
  • Implement complex multi-step forms, conditional logic, file uploads, and submission handling using the Webform module and custom form APIs.
  • Favor marketplace/contributed modules over custom code; evaluate, harden, and configure OOTB capability before building.
  • Develop custom connectors and integration modules to enterprise case management, document, identity, and messaging services.
  • Build reusable component libraries and configuration-driven patterns intended for reuse across future initiatives.
  • Implement caching, performance tuning, and scalability patterns for containerized Drupal running on Kubernetes.
  • Maintain configuration management, deployment configuration, and update/patch discipline including Drupal security advisories.
  • Ensure all delivered themes and components meet Section 508 / WCAG 2.1 AA.
  • Develop and operate Drupal 10+ applications with MySQL on the DOL PACE container platform, using configuration-driven and OOTB/contributed capabilities before custom code wherever feasible.
  • Implement integrations with Login.gov, Appian/WISE/CAPS/PWRS, Kafka, document scanning/file services, analytics, and DOL identity/access management as required.
  • Support release evidence, vulnerability remediation, immutable audit logging, records-retention requirements, and ATO/security authorization activities.

    Required Skills & Experience

  • 7+ years web development with 5+ years hands-on Drupal (Drupal 9/10 required).
  • Strong PHP, Symfony components, Twig theming, and Drupal APIs (Entity, Form, Plugin, Services).
  • Demonstrated Webform module expertise for complex public-facing forms.
  • Custom module development and contributed module evaluation/hardening.
  • REST/JSON:API development and third-party system integration.
  • Composer-based dependency management, Drush, and Git workflows.
  • Experience running Drupal in containers (Docker/Kubernetes) with CI/CD promotion.
  • Accessible front-end development (HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript) to WCAG 2.1 AA.
  • Substantial experience with AI-assisted programming tools in a governed environment.
  • Experience with PACE or comparable Kubernetes/OpenShift container platforms and MySQL-backed Drupal deployments.
  • Experience with secure form workflows including real-time validation, one-time submission controls, file upload/scanning, audit trails, and API/event integration.

    Preferred Qualifications

  • Acquia Certified Drupal Developer or equivalent certification.
  • Experience integrating Drupal with Appian or a comparable BPM/case management platform.
  • Kafka producer/consumer implementation from PHP or via API gateway.
  • AWS experience (EKS, Aurora, EFS, S3, Secrets Manager).
