About
Steffen Haase is a backend engineer and PHP developer with more than 20 years of experience in software development, infrastructure, and systems administration. His work has included backend architecture, database optimisation, cloud migration, deployment workflows, security reviews, automation tools, and technical mentoring.
Haase worked as a senior backend developer at Indoleads.com from 2019 to 2025, where he designed and maintained backend systems for an affiliate marketing platform. His responsibilities included managing MySQL, ClickHouse, and MongoDB deployments, developing integration and automation tools, conducting security-focused code reviews, and mentoring developers. He later worked at Kasagi Labo on cloud infrastructure and database migration work for Google Cloud production systems.
Earlier in his career, Haase co-founded ADD FOUNDATION and served as its chief technology officer. He also worked independently on custom software, infrastructure, security, blockchain, and training projects, following systems and network administration roles in Germany.
Haase created Beacon while developing a new website. The open-source PHP framework provides routing, dependency injection, middleware, Twig templates, Eloquent database access, validation, migrations, and console commands in a Composer-based starter. He has positioned Beacon as a focused option for server-rendered applications rather than a replacement for Laravel or Symfony.
