Ralf Baumbach (berliner)

I build and evolve content-driven web applications that are expected to remain useful for many years.  

I have more than 20 years of professional web-development experience and deep expertise in Drupal and PHP. Since 2016, I have worked fully remotely with the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), with primary technical responsibility for FTS, Humanitarian Insights and, currently, HumanitarianAction.info and its Drupal-based editorial backend.  

My role combines application architecture with hands-on engineering across backend and frontend development, REST and GraphQL integrations, content modelling, testing, application security, accessibility, releases and production support. I work closely with project managers, data specialists and stakeholders to turn business requirements into maintainable technical solutions.  

I am particularly interested in long-lived web applications, editorial platforms and data-driven products that give non-technical users greater autonomy without making the underlying system difficult to maintain and evolve.  

Core technologies: Drupal, PHP, Symfony, JavaScript, Twig, REST, GraphQL, Mapbox, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Git and Docker.  

Languages: German, English and French; good knowledge of Spanish.
