GovCMS Extends Existing Drupal Services Panel as Replacement Tender Closes
Australia's Department of Finance has extended the existing GovCMS Drupal Services Panel to 30 September 2027 while procurement for its replacement moves into the next stage. GovCMS's current panel page lists the extended date, and the replacement Request for Tender, FIN-2026-27-GovCMS, closed on 7 October 2026 at 5:00 pm ACT local time.
The extension keeps an approved procurement route available for government agencies while Finance evaluates the next Drupal and Digital Experience Platform services panel. The DropTimes previously reported that the existing panel was due to expire on 30 September 2026. The current GovCMS panel page does not state when the extension was approved.
Replacement Tender Covers Three Service Categories
The replacement arrangement is intended for Commonwealth, state, territory and local government entities. Category 1 covers general Drupal and digital experience services, including strategic advisory, UX and design, Drupal development, integration, content migration, support and digital standards compliance.
Category 2 covers fixed-price Drupal and DXP service packages such as website assessments, accessibility audits, application support, discovery and design work, implementation projects, support retainers and training. Suppliers cannot bid for Category 2 on its own; they must also tender for Category 1.
Category 3 covers DXP, content personalisation and integrated software and tools, including analytics, search, digital asset management, automation and related capabilities intended to support more personalised and user-focused digital services.
New Services Are Expected to Start in Early 2027
Finance says services under the replacement arrangement are anticipated to begin in the third quarter of the 2026–27 financial year. That places the expected start between January and March 2027.
The initial panel term is planned for three years, with options to extend for a further period or periods totalling up to three additional years. The procurement is a panel arrangement and allows access across government agencies.
The anticipated start of the replacement panel falls well before the existing panel's extended expiry in September 2027. Neither the closed tender notice nor the current panel page explains how long both arrangements may operate in parallel or how agencies will transition between them.
Existing GovCMS Procurement Route Remains Available
The existing Drupal Services Panel provides approved suppliers for Drupal and GovCMS work. GovCMS guidance divides that arrangement across specialist Drupal services, fixed-price packages and DXP-related services, giving agencies access to development, content, design, support and related digital capabilities.
The panel extension therefore provides continuity while the replacement procurement is assessed. The closed tender does not yet identify the suppliers that will join the new arrangement, and Finance has not published an award outcome on the tender page supplied for this report.
