Drupal Site-Building Updates Cover Drupal 12 Support and Rendering Fixes

Discover Drupal graphic titled "When the Details Change How a Page Renders" featuring layered webpage layouts. The Drupal Digest highlights unexpected display behaviour caused by Views rows, component slots and field groups.

Three Drupal site-building modules received updates on 13 October 2026, covering Drupal 12 compatibility, component rendering and field display behaviour. Layout Builder Component Attributes 2.4.0 and UI Patterns 2.0.23 are stable non-security releases, while Field Group 4.1.0-beta1 remains a prerelease intended for testing.

The updates affect different parts of Drupal's site-building workflow. Layout Builder Component Attributes expands compatibility with Drupal core, UI Patterns corrects how components receive and render data, and Field Group addresses unwanted output from disabled containers. Site maintainers should assess the changes according to their installed modules, configuration and upgrade plans.

Layout Builder Component Attributes 2.4.0: Drupal 12 Support

Layout Builder Component Attributes allows editors to add HTML attributes, including IDs, CSS classes and data attributes, to components within Drupal's Layout Builder. Version 2.4.0 adds declared support for Drupal 12 alongside supported Drupal 10 and 11 versions. Its changelog also records the conversion of legacy hooks to object-oriented implementations, additional type declarations and static-analysis improvements.

These changes primarily concern compatibility and internal code maintenance rather than new editor-facing functionality. The preceding 2.3.0 release listed Drupal 10 and 11 compatibility. Sites preparing for Drupal 12 can now assess version 2.4.0 as part of their upgrade testing, while checking that their themes and other Layout Builder integrations remain compatible.

UI Patterns 2.0.23: Component Rendering Fixes

UI Patterns is part of the UI Suite initiative, a collection of tools for building design systems in Drupal. Its 2.0.23 release addresses two rendering defects involving slots, which allow reusable components to receive and display content. One correction preserves the named children of nested render arrays during slot normalisation. The related issue documents a case where Drupal's Site branding block loses its site name when placed inside a component layout because expected array keys are changed.

Another fix addresses Views configurations that pass rows into component slots. When a View returns only one result, the affected configuration could lose its list structure and pass the individual row's fields to the template instead. The issue report identifies configurations using the Component Views style, the Force using fields option and the Views rows source as affected cases.

The release also adds a source for link-field attributes. This allows components with separate URL and attributes properties to receive HTML attributes stored with Drupal link fields. The changelog additionally records removal of the annotated_name feature. Maintainers using UI Patterns for component-based design systems should review the changes and test affected templates, Views displays and link components before deployment.

Field Group 4.1.0-beta1: Disabled Container Fix

Field Group 4.1.0-beta1 addresses a separate rendering issue involving disabled field-group containers. The reported problem occurs when groups used in one display mode are disabled in another but remain present in the render array. For example, a content type may use tabbed groups in its default display while a card display enables individual fields without those groups.

The beta targets unwanted container output in such configurations. Its declared compatibility covers Drupal 10.3 and Drupal 11, not Drupal 12. Site builders can test the fix across their configured display modes, but the beta should not be treated as a routine production upgrade. The 4.0.0 release remains the latest stable version listed for the project.

For production sites, the two stable releases can be evaluated through normal dependency checks and regression testing. The Field Group beta requires a separate testing decision. None of the three releases is identified as a security update, and their publication does not establish an emergency patching requirement.
