International Rescue Committee

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) works to assist people affected by humanitarian crises caused by conflict and disasters. The organization focuses on helping individuals and communities to survive, recover, and rebuild their lives. In 2017, the IRC, along with its partners, provided essential services to nearly 23 million people, including access to primary health care and cash support to vulnerable households. The IRC addressed hunger issues in East Africa, Nigeria, and Yemen, reaching around 2 million people. It also supported education for 1.14 million children and helped establish over 16,000 businesses, with a significant portion owned by women. In the United States, the IRC assisted over 10,000 refugees and special immigrant visa holders in resettling and helped create 134 refugee-owned small businesses, with the support of more than 5,200 volunteers across the country.
