LocalGov Drupal Plans To Become A Non-profit
LocalGov Drupal, a publishing platform made on Drupal, an open-source content management system created by the UK council, announced it plans to turn into a not-for-profit entity. They also received £400 000 funds from the Department of Leveling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC) Local Digital Fund to continue its work facilitating digital collaboration between local councils for another year.
The priority is to move away from the current model of one local authority, currently Cumbria County Council, taking the lead role. By becoming a not-for-profit, the LocalGov entity will be able to maintain better and in fact, grow on what they have achieved so far, and in the process become self-sustainable. LocalGov Drupal also plans to find a technical supplier next year to support the work of microsites.
LocalGov Drupal has been developed by a number of local authorities and developers, and it enables free access to the councils. It currently has 22 councils and eight suppliers on board for its upcoming projects.
