Ryan Szarma Spotlights Drupal Commerce Learning at DrupalCon Pittsburgh

In a recent blog post, Ryan Szarma, a prominent figure in the Drupal Commerce community, shared insights on how attendees can maximize their learning experience at DrupalCon Pittsburgh. As Centarro, the company he represents, decided not to have a booth at this year's DrupalCon North America, Szarma provides alternative ways to engage with Drupal Commerce content and establish personal connections during the event.

Szarma explains that Centarro withdrew its sponsorship after the addition of a mask mandate in February. Expressing concerns about the impact of enforced masking on exhibitors and the overall conference experience, he believed the policy would hinder engagement and collaborative opportunities among peers. Szarma emphasizes that his decision was not anti-mask, but rather a reflection of his reasonable stance based on scientific evidence and public health expert guidance.

While Szarma acknowledges the importance of health precautions, he advocated for a policy that promotes personal responsibility, aligning with public health guidelines without exceeding them. However, his appeal to adopt a policy similar to DrupalSouth's was unsuccessful. Consequently, he requested and received a refund, encouraging others with similar concerns to share their feedback with the Drupal Association through their survey, hoping for a different outcome at future DrupalCons.

Despite Centarro's absence as an exhibitor, Szarma remains excited about personally attending DrupalCon Pittsburgh and sharing the achievements of his team. To learn more about Drupal Commerce at the event, Szarma invites attendees to join his talk titled "Selling file downloads and certificates through Drupal Commerce" on Tuesday at 3 PM in Room 310-311. The session will showcase Centarro's recent advancements in Drupal Commerce's feature set. Additionally, he recommends attending Mohammed Razem's talk on how Drupal powers the global UN Refugee Agency fundraising platform, scheduled for Tuesday at 11:30 AM in Room 315-316, presented by Vardot.

Szarma expresses enthusiasm for engaging with fellow attendees during the week's "barcade" parties and invites challenges to arcade games such as Joust or Robotron 2084. He also welcomes anyone interested in Drupal Commerce or in exploring potential collaborations to reach out via his contact form on Centarro.io.
