Reasons Not to Delay Migration from Drupal 7, Agileana Explains

Update

A blog post by Agileana discusses three key reasons why it is advisable not to delay the migration from Drupal 7 to a more advanced version. Though Drupal 7's End of Life is extended to January 2025, the article advises not to delay migration to the latest versions anymore. Ben Freeland authors the post.

Drupal 7 will reach its end-of-life status on January 05, 2025, which means no further official support or security updates will be provided, making websites vulnerable to potential risks. Besides that, newer versions of Drupal offer significant improvements in features, performance, and security. Migrating to Drupal 9 or later versions allows websites to utilise these advancements and stay updated with the latest technologies.

According to the blog post, delaying the migration process may increase costs and complexity as the gap between Drupal 7 and newer versions widens. Therefore, starting the migration process sooner rather than later is recommended to ensure a smooth transition and maintain a secure and efficient website.
