LocalGov Drupal Contributions: Progress on Accessibility, Layouts, and More

Mark Conroy’s contributions to LocalGov Drupal for the week ending September 6, 2024, with the sponsorship from Big Blue Door, showcased progress on several fronts, including accessibility and tech improvements. During a Merge Tuesday discussion, the focus was on preparing for Drupal 11 while maintaining support for Drupal 10—an accessibility meetup featuring tools like Axe, Wave, and Lighthouse for improving web accessibility.

On the code side, Mark worked on enhancements like updating accordion patterns to allow multiple open items and a new toggle feature. He also integrated "Good first issue" links into the LGD Dashboard and reorganized the “Files” tab under “Media” for easier navigation. Mark also revisited the "LocalGov Extra Layouts" module, resolving packaging issues and cleaning up code.

In collaboration with Sarah from Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council, Mark identified a bug in the path alias settings for publications and prepared notes for a solution. He continues to push forward with improvements, ensuring LocalGov Drupal remains efficient and user-friendly.
