Revolutionizing Governance with Drupal: The Automation System for Balochistan’s Public Accounts Committee

The government of Balochistan faced a significant challenge: managing the intricate workflows, documentation, and decision-making processes within its Public Accounts Committee (PAC). As the central entity responsible for ensuring financial accountability, the PAC required a system that could streamline operations, enhance transparency, and maintain rigorous data integrity. The solution? A bespoke automation system built entirely on Drupal—a decision that proved to be transformative. This is the first system of its kind to be introduced in any provincial or central government of Pakistan.

Before the automation system’s implementation, the PAC relied on manual processes and fragmented tools to handle its operations. This resulted in several bottlenecks, including:

• Time-Consuming Workflows: Review and approval processes often spanned weeks due to reliance on paper-based documentation.
• Lack of Transparency: Stakeholders had limited visibility into the status of ongoing audits and reports.
• Data Management Issues: Managing and retrieving historical records was cumbersome and prone to errors.
• Communication Breakdowns: Collaboration between committee members and other stakeholders suffered due to siloed systems.
• Huge Backlog: Accumulated tasks and unresolved issues hindered timely decision-making and progress.
