Drupal Open University Makes Exciting Progress!

The Drupal Open University initiative is gaining significant traction following its fifth official meeting since its launch at DrupalCon Barcelona 2024. The project, spearheaded by COO and React Online founder Jean-Paul Vosmeer, is quickly becoming a focal point within the Drupal community, attracting growing participation and support.

The initiative has three key objectives aimed at fostering greater accessibility and collaboration in the Drupal ecosystem. First, it is focused on open-sourcing Drupal curriculums, allowing educators and learners to access and contribute to shared learning materials. This step is seen as a pivotal move toward democratizing Drupal education.

Second, the initiative aims to build stronger connections with universities, promoting collaboration between academic institutions and the Drupal community. By bridging the gap between academia and the open-source world, the project aspires to foster a larger pool of Drupal-trained professionals.

Lastly, community engagement is a core priority, encouraging individuals, educators, and companies to contribute to the initiative. The emphasis on collaboration has sparked interest from across the global Drupal network, as evidenced by mentions on prominent platforms like the Talking Drupal Podcast.

Jean highlighted the excitement surrounding the project, noting the increasing involvement of contributors and the development of new educational tracks. The project page, available here, offers details for those interested in learning more or joining the initiative. The community is also encouraged to reach out directly to Jean or his team for collaboration opportunities.

Special recognition was given to key contributors, including Hilmar Kári Hallbjörnsson, Guzman Bellon, Gayatri Venugopal Tandon, Norah Shannon Medlin, and others, for their instrumental roles in driving the project forward. Read the full post here.
