DrupalCon Atlanta 2025: Reflections on Community, AI, and Accessibility
Sergiu Nagailic, Senior Drupal Developer and CTO at MedicalTourism.Review, shared his personal reflections on attending DrupalCon Atlanta 2025 in a blog post. It was his first North American DrupalCon, supported by Dropsolid, and he openly evaluated both the technical highlights and community dynamics of the event.
Serjiu appreciated the progress shown in key areas like Experience Builder (XB), Tailwind and ReactJS adoption, and the Site Templates initiative. He also recognized growing efforts in AI integration within Drupal, though he raised concerns about current AI implementations not aligning with more advanced external tools and workflows. His experience interacting with longtime community members added value to the event, but he also expressed concern about its exclusivity, high costs, and declining appeal to newer and younger developers.
He suggests reducing event costs, creating more inclusive entry points, and integrating modern AI ecosystems like Langchain and Vercel’s SDK instead of relying solely on in-house solutions. His reflections point toward a need for Drupal to adapt both socially and technically to stay relevant.
