DrupalCon Rotterdam 2026 Opens Calls for Higher Education and Government Summit Sessions
Organisers of DrupalCon Rotterdam 2026 have opened calls for participation for two new sector-focused summits centred on Higher Education and Government use of Drupal. Both one-day events are scheduled for Monday, 28 September 2026, at the Postillion Hotel & Convention Centre, WTC Rotterdam, ahead of the main DrupalCon Europe programme.
The summits are designed as dedicated collaboration spaces for institutions, public sector organisations, and Drupal industry partners working on shared digital infrastructure and content management challenges. Organisers said the events respond to sustained interest in sector-specific discussions during previous DrupalCon sessions and community feedback.
The Higher Education Summit will focus on institutional Drupal operations and large-scale platform management within universities and educational organisations. Topics highlighted by organisers include migrations, editorial workflows, governance procedures, AI adoption, intranets, developer training, design systems, and security management.
According to the summit announcement, organisers are seeking presentations, case studies, panel discussions, and facilitated collaboration sessions from participants with experience managing Drupal in complex institutional environments. Contributors selected for the programme will receive free admission to the summit.
The Government Summit is intended as a collaboration-focused forum for public-sector organisations working on shared digital infrastructure, publishing systems, service delivery platforms, and open-source governance challenges. In the summit call for participation, Finn Lewis, Technical Director at Open Code Ltd, highlighted recurring needs including public-facing websites, intranets, case management systems, complaints platforms, and reporting infrastructure.
The announcement also references initiatives such as LocalGov Drupal in the United Kingdom as examples of collaborative public-sector development models. Organisers said the summit aims to encourage broader international collaboration around open-source infrastructure and digital sovereignty requirements.
The Government Summit programme is structured around short morning presentation sessions to share knowledge and encourage collaboration, followed by facilitated afternoon workshops to build new or existing collaborative projects among participating organisations. Organisers are inviting proposals for technical demonstrations, workshops, moderated discussions, and public-sector case studies.
Organisers said submissions for the Government Summit close on Monday, 29 June 2026. Proposals can be submitted through the Government Summit participation form.
Additional details about the summits and participation process are available through the DrupalCon Rotterdam 2026 events website.
