JSON:API Views 8.x-1.2 Improves Route Performance and Cache Handling

Version 8.x-1.2 of the JSON:API Views module fixes route-building performance, cache metadata handling, preview URL parameters, numeric bundle routing, and OpenAPI resource discovery. In a blog post published 12 August 2026, Stuart Clark, maintainer of JSON:API Views, described the release as his first on the module's 1.x line since taking over maintenance. Drupal.org records the stable release on 9 August 2026 and compatibility with Drupal 8.8 and later. The project page credits Drupal.org user pixelwhip as the original creator.

JSON:API Views exposes Drupal Views displays through JSON:API, allowing decoupled applications to use existing filtering, sorting, pagination, and access logic instead of maintaining separate listing resources. Exposed displays are available under /jsonapi/views/{view_id}/{display_id}, and the Views preview panel can show the corresponding endpoint with arguments and exposed filter values. Clark also uses the module as the Drupal-side component behind DruxtViews, which connects Views to the Nuxt-based Druxt framework.

Among the technical changes, route building now caches resource type names per entity type; Clark says the case reported in the issue reduced calls to ResourceTypeRepository::get() from 637 to 13. The release also propagates Views cache metadata to JSON:API responses, uses configured exposed-filter identifiers in preview URLs, casts numeric bundle IDs to strings during route resource-type lookup, and supplies the real resource type for single-bundle Views used in OpenAPI discovery. Drupal.org's changelog lists five bug fixes and one maintenance task among six resolved issues; Clark says planned work includes tighter route-level access control, further performance work for sites with more than 100 exposed Views, and a future 2.0.x branch that switches exposure from opt-out to opt-in.
