New RECOFTC.org Launches on Drupal to Support Community Forestry in Asia-Pacific

Brainsum and RECOFTC launched a redesigned RECOFTC.org to strengthen community forestry across seven countries in the Asia-Pacific region. The new Drupal platform unifies almost 2,600 legacy content items from two websites into a modular system, consolidates 61 custom modules into a single extension, and enables automated, multilingual publishing in seven languages via the TMGMT module.

Project leads Ramesh Bhandari and Krisztián Kása worked closely with RECOFTC’s regional editors to map 700 fields, resolve inconsistencies in content types, and craft an intuitive editorial workflow. A new content lister replaced multiple custom views, eliminating manual steps and enhancing content discoverability for decentralised teams. A content delivery network with HTML caching and tag-based invalidation was deployed to manage bot traffic and deliver fast, reliable access.

Regional staff report greater confidence using the site’s clean data architecture and modular components. The transformation empowers RECOFTC to share research, stories, and tools more effectively with communities, donors, and partners, supporting its mission of resilient, equitable forest landscapes.
