SPS Commerce Migrates Next.js SupplierWiki to Pantheon in Eight Days
Following its 2024 acquisition of SupplyPike, SPS Commerce moved SupplierWiki, a Next.js reference site for supply chain professionals, from Netlify to Pantheon in eight days. The migration brought SupplierWiki onto the same platform used for SPS Commerce's existing WordPress site, replacing separate hosting dashboards, support relationships and billing arrangements.
A case study published by Pantheon describes how SPS Commerce consolidated the acquired product without replacing its Next.js architecture. SupplierWiki and the WordPress marketing site share a domain despite using different technologies, requiring the team to coordinate routing, authentication and caching across both systems. The team adopted Pantheon's Dev, Test and Live environments, connected code management through GitHub, and used Multidev environments for branch-specific previews.
Pantheon's Cache Handler coordinates cache invalidation between the WordPress backend and Next.js frontend, while domain masking was applied to test environments so authentication could be checked before production. The team also moved API keys and tokens into Pantheon's Secrets Management system.
Pantheon reports that SupplierWiki went live with active users from the first day on the new setup, with traffic monitoring and analytics working after the migration. SPS Commerce now manages its WordPress and Next.js workloads through one platform and applies deployment practices developed during 12 years as a Pantheon customer.
