Display Builder Beta4 Continues Stabilisation as Migration Path from Layout Builder Advances

Display Builder 1.0.0-beta4 Released with Stabilisation Fixes and Logging Improvements

Display Builder for Drupal continues its rapid development cycle with the release of version 1.0.0-beta4, arriving one week after beta3 and focusing on stabilisation, bug fixes, and incremental improvements to core functionality.

In an announcement on UISuite, maintainers describe the release as a targeted update addressing issues identified in earlier beta versions. The update builds on beta3, which introduced key features including migration support for Layout Builder content overrides and the ability to import initial configuration from block layout settings.

Beta4 continues work on improving the module’s handling of entity view overrides, introducing enhancements aimed at making display configuration more flexible across content types. The release also improves API error logging by tailoring messages to specific data sources, making debugging more precise for developers working with complex display configurations.

The release includes several bug fixes addressing issues in the token modal interface, workflow step handling, and errors triggered during slot attachment operations. Additional fixes improve field management behaviour within entity view overrides, continuing a broader effort to stabilise display rendering and configuration workflows.

Earlier improvements introduced in beta3 remain central to the module’s development direction. These include support for migrating content overrides from Layout Builder, grouping within the Pattern Presets library, expanded handling of block content entities, and ongoing compatibility work with Drupal’s JSON API. Internal changes have also reduced dependencies and aligned the module with updates in Drupal 11.3.

Display Builder is part of the UI Suite ecosystem and aims to provide a unified system for managing entity displays, block layouts, and design system integration within Drupal. Version 1.0.0-beta4 requires Drupal ^11.3.3 and can be installed using Composer with composer require 'drupal/display_builder:^1.0@beta'.
