Webform 6.3.0 Becomes First Stable Release for Drupal 11

Maintainers released Webform 6.3.0 on 7 July 2026 as the module’s first stable version compatible with Drupal 11. It works with Drupal 10.3 and Drupal 11, raising the minimum core requirement from Drupal 10.2 in Webform 6.2.10. Drupal.org listed 331,055 sites as reporting use of Webform when checked on 6 August 2026, and the stable release is covered by Drupal’s security advisory policy.

The stable tag gives site teams a production release after nearly two years of work on the 6.3.x branch, which was created on 25 July 2024. The release notes credit 229 contributors across 292 resolved issues. In a LinkedIn post, Webform contributor Eduardo Morales Alberti marked the milestone and credited Metadrop with supporting time for community contribution.

Drupal 11 compatibility work removes or replaces obsolete code tied to older Drupal APIs, legacy CKEditor integration, Modernizr, and Internet Explorer shims. User-facing additions include an average formatter for Likert elements, rendered entities as checkbox or radio options, language selection for email handlers, and improved announcements for client-side validation errors. Performance and reliability changes include a database index for submission data and a fix for a batch-export memory leak that could leave large CSV exports incomplete.

The release notes identify three outstanding upgrade concerns. They involve content delivery network caching for anonymous visitors, Dynamic Page Cache behaviour for authenticated users, and missing Webform-specific CSS or JavaScript when forms render outside their normal routes through AJAX or blocks. Site teams should test anonymous and authenticated caching, block and AJAX rendering, and custom form assets in a non-production environment; the notes do not state that the issues affect every installation.

Sites using webform_bootstrap should review the submodule split before upgrading and add the separate Webform Bootstrap project if they use that integration. A Drupal.org support issue documents upgrade confusion for one Drupal 10 configuration and was postponed on 29 July 2026 pending more information. Deprecated Webform submodules should be removed where possible or moved to the Webform deprecated project, which is minimally maintained and is not covered by Drupal’s security advisory policy. Sites remaining on Drupal 10.2 should stay on Webform 6.2.11; Composer-managed Drupal 10.3 and Drupal 11 sites can install the stable branch with composer require 'drupal/webform:^6.3'.
